Thoresby Vale

Thoresby Vale is an exciting new development situated on the former Thoresby Colliery site. Its location on the outskirts of Edwinstowe in the heart of the Sherwood area places this residential-led scheme amongst the heart of region’s most popular woodlands, forests and leisure attractions.

The site has a 10-hectare allocation of employment land as part of a mixed-use scheme for more than 800 homes, a community centre, leisure facilities and green transport and infrastructure hub. In addition to this, plans are in place for a new country park and a primary school.

The project will be delivered over a 10-year period, and will include additional facilities such as a new Local Centre, “The Heart of the New Community”. This will contain a mix of leisure, commercial, employment, community, retail (up to 500 m2), health, and residential uses.

Thoresby Vale is within walking distance of Edwinstowe and within easy commuting distance of Sheffield, Nottingham, Mansfield, Worksop and Chesterfield, as well as mainline stations at Doncaster, Newark, and Retford.

Access to the A614, A1, A60 and A57 will provide ideal links for businesses located in the new employment space, which is planned to comprise of B1a, B1c, B2 uses.

Why invest in Newark and Sherwood?

Newark and Sherwood is an incredible place to live, work and do business. With an economy in 2019 worth £2.2bn, our area has seen increased growth over the last 20 years as business and industry thrive and the quality of life in the area improves.

Sherwood has been made famous by its connections to the legendary Robin Hood, as well as its ancient and beautiful woodland. But the area has much else to be proud of too; including a collection of unique independent retailers and world-renowned enterprises specialising in logistics, manufacturing, digital technologies and hospitality.

The area has an enviable location at the crossroads of the country’s transportation network. From Sherwood you can easily access the A614, A617, M1, A1 and A57, as well as the East Coast Main Line and East Midlands rail network.

The district recently received £3.29 million of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support local communities and businesses over the next three years, as well as an additional £891,000 of capital funding, available to eligible rural authorities to improve both infrastructure and opportunities in rural communities. Investing in the area will allow you to take advantage of many of the ambitious new projects that stem from both funding pots.

In addition to this, there are many other fantastic projects in the works that aim to promote growth in the Sherwood area, including the exciting plans to develop the Forest Corner area of Sherwood Forest.
