Institute for Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing

£40m needed – University of Warwick

The University of Warwick’s Manufacturing Group is made up of 800 world-leading academics, and is recognised as the global benchmark for putting business demands at the heart of cutting-edge research and education. A new Institute for Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing will train students in the diverse technologies needed for the next generation of manufacturing, such as green skills in sustainability and circular pipeline development. A philanthropic donation of £40m will help establish the Institute through the following appointments:

  • 50 postdoctoral fellowships to recruit the best junior academics and give them the protected time to develop their ideas
  • 50 PhD scholarships for exceptional candidates to establish the next generation of engineering talent
  • An £8m research fund, to incentivise some of the world’s most exciting junior researchers to come to Warwick

A gift at this level would secure naming rights to the Institute, in perpetuity.
