Humber Freeport

Humber Freeport is sited along the Humber estuary and is one of eight Freeports currently being endorsed by government in England. The Humber is the busiest UK trade estuary by tonnage, hosting the country’s busiest port (Immingham) and its most extended ports cluster. Working with four local authorities on both banks, national government and two LEPs the Humber Freeport will receive a dedicated income stream from retained business rates, and strong input for business, to help maximise the economic impact of the estuary, both in terms of the immediate surroundings and across the broader hinterland served by the Humber ports.

Key facts

  • Freeports offer incentives in tax, Customs Zones and trade, but will incorporate wider impact in terms of inward investment, regeneration and levelling up, and creating hotbeds of innovation.
